Choosing what to do for an adult birthday party can be tricky. This article that might help! Find a spot to host a lunch or dinner, then hop on a Funny Bus (or similar offering). I’ve linked the locations and items we used in this article in case you want to rinse and repeat. If not, take a read and find inspiration to jump off with your own ideas.
Party Location
We chose a spot in Cleveland, OH called Collision Bend Brewing to host a late lunch for two reasons. First, they have lovely rooms for rent on the water. The room was the right size and fit the price point we wanted. The second reason was because The Funny Bus already stops there regularly. We could create a nice flow for the party for the guests and for ourselves! 😉
Collision Bend was easy to work with and has a great team. We chose to serve heavy appetizers during the lunch from 12-3. They offer plenty options. People were very happy with the selections. The view of the bridge and boats in the room we rented was very cool. Even during the day, it gave fun relaxed vibes. We had plenty of room to sit or move around with around 20 people. (The room we choose can hold more.)
Decorations
We kept the decorations relatively simple using a 50 marquee sign , black and pink balloons, and golden meditating frogs to tie the balloons to instead of typical balloon weights. (It’s good to note that putting together the marquee sign takes time. It requires hot glue and is good to do well ahead of your party date.)
We placed optional birthday party games on the tables as a way for anyone who felt quiet. Like a choose your own adventure, play or not, either is all good! The games were: Never or Ever, Fill in the blanks and Would She Rather. Then, I used a document stand to place the answers where they could check to see how many they got right.
Another choose your own activity we did was to lay conversation starter cards on the tables. This could help guests who may not know each other have an excuse to talk. I had the cards for a long time and decided to put them to use. I am not sure if anyone used them or not as I knew everyone and didn’t need to whip out one of the cards 😉
Guest Good Bags for the Funny Bus
After eating, we gave everyone a bag to take onto the Funny Bus. The bus allows riders to drink beer and wine (at least it does in Cleveland). It also has roll up windows. Since the party was in the fall, we were not sure what the weather would be like. So we included little scarves in the bags. The bags also contained Fiji water, mints, pretzels, a little note of positivity, and a cheers to 50 years cup. We brought wine and a few other drink selections for guests in a cooler backpack. Then used the Cheers to 50 Years cups as needed. The Funny Bus driver and Comedian did a very great job of working to make the time on the bus funny and enjoyable. Our guests were all new to the Funny Bus experience, which made me very happy. I love providing experiences that are new and enjoyable. We ended up with a temperate fall day for the bus and a good time had by all.
